第一次你陪我坐着

想念是会呼吸的痛

想念   是会呼吸的   痛

于是   想念需要倾诉  

需要   一个方向

让痛   不再痛

转换成一种   满足

 

想念   是会呼吸的   痛

于是   当想念必须密封

藏在内心储藏室的   最深处

这痛   将渗透   身上

每一个角落

 

想念   是会呼吸的   痛

当已经让它   活了这么久

又怎么忍心   活活把它   杀死

 

于是我说   我不想念了

它在储藏室里   藏得好好的

我自己   都找不到了。

This is not an assignment of MGM 3101, really.

For your information, MGM 3101 is the code for the “Principle of Management” courses in UPM, which I’m currently taking.

A lot of theories are being learnt in this course (and like other introductory courses, many theories are just being mentioned without giving sufficient explanation), but it’s very hard to tell other people what you’ve really learnt. The reason? Like what my uncle told me, management knowledge is just “common sense”.

Well, since management knowledge is just “common sense”, then what is the point of learning it? I think there are several reasons for this.

First, management knowledge can be used as a checklist, whereby we can check whether we’ve already try all the method available for certain situations.

For example, in order to prevent the inappropriate behavior of subordinates, the manager that keep giving warning might think that he has already tried his best, the problem is that the subordinates are stubborn. Nonetheless, if he had learnt the motivation theories, he might change his strategy to reward the subordinates.

 


 

Second, management knowledge is can be used for the manager to evaluate their current style or method of managing.

Although most management theories are “common sense” when being learnt, most people would not try all the methods that they’ve heard. Instead, they manage using the first method that they can come out, and might stick to the method if it appears effective, without realizing the pros and cons of the method. Management knowledge would be useful for the manager to reflect on their current management style, and change the style when it is inappropriate if circumstances change.

 


 

Third, management knowledge can improve confidence for manager.

As the quote “knowledge is power”, manager will feel powerful/confident if they know more about the managing process, rather than try any method that he can come out himself.

 


 

Lastly, I would like to say that, a good instructor is crucial for understand the management principle being learnt, and I’m fortunate for having one for the only management course in my undergraduate degree. (I’m not saying this for pleasing my management instructor, really.)
